Being a first year was never one, especially for Ginny. The youngest sibling in her family, she was the farthest behind maturity wise. Hogwarts was an opportunity for her to get out and see the world, try to make something of herself. But, now that she was here, she sort of felt even more left out then she did before. Maybe it was because tagging along with your brother and his friends didn't help you become popular any faster, it just caused you to become annoying. Ron would always scold her, call her dumb, tell her to go away and find her own friends. Ginny had no other friends, not yet anyways. She didn't know many people from her year, and she was a new student to this giant school of constant talk and speculation. What's a red head to do?
Ron always told her how easy it was for him to make friends. But you don't need anything when you're friends with Harry Potter. He's the boy who lived! He was famous in the wizarding world! Ron just didn't understand how she felt, he probably never would. Why, just last year he was so eager to get rid of her and make a start at Hogwarts for himself. He was always the funny one, so willing to make new friends (except Hermione, who he still denied liking as a friend). She tried explaining to him over and over again that if she could just try to hang out with him for a while, she'd eventually find her own friends and be happy without him always by her side. He just called her clingy and clapped in her face for being so stupid. God, he needed to stop doing that, her ears were literally starting to hurt.
Why, the only person that listened to her sometimes was Harry. Oh, Harry. His name gave her a funny feeling in her stomach. When Ron quite didn't understand her, Harry would make an attempt to be nice to her. He never kicked her out, never clapped in her face, never told her to go off and find her own friends. Ginny started to think that maybe Harry was the only person who understood how she actually felt, even if he couldn't pick up on how she felt about him. Yes, the poor red head had a crush on the famous Harry Potter. But, who wouldn't? It wasn't her fault! He was just there for her a lot, and his eyes made her feel all warm inside, and when he played his guitar, it sounded so beautiful to her. But, he didn't notice, he was too busy pursuing one Cho Chang, the most beautiful girl in Hogwarts. And Ginny had tried to accept that she'd never be like Cho, tall, southern, perfect. But she wouldn't accept defeat from her so easily, oh no.
Her classes were already over for the day, and instead of going to the Great Hall or skipping along with Ron and them, she decided to just go back to the common room and have some alone time. She could find ways to amuse herself. Her red hair hung in a mess, her bangs just above her eyes. Ginny tried her best to stay positive, after all she wasn't one to get upset over stupid things like this. She was tough, independent girl, right? Right! A small smile graced her lips as she hopped on the couch, tucking some loose strands behind her ears. Harry's guitar was in the corner of the room. Looking over at it, her smile transformed into a larger grin, her heart flipping inside of her chest. She wanted to touch it, to hold it, to strum where his fingers had strum. But it wasn't hers! Ginny knew she'd get in trouble if anyone came in here and saw her playing around with Harry Potter's guitar. Imagine what Ron would do! He loved it when Harry played songs for everyone!
Ginny's smile faded into a crooked, thin line. What was she to do? "Well, no one's here," she said aloud, slowly getting off the couch. "And I'll set it right back down when I'm done," she smirked, talking slow strides towards the black instrument. A squeal escaped her lips as she picked up the guitar by the neck, turning it around and slinging the strap over her arm. Her eyes widened at how pretty it actually was, for a guitar I mean. Thin fingers raked over the nylon string, notes ringing out through the empty common room. She had no clue how to play the guitar, but even these minimal noises made it sound like a piece of genius. Just as she was about to fiddle around with it more, a voice coming up the stairs interrupted her fantasizing. Panicking, she quickly looped herself out of the strap and leaned the guitar back against the wall, rushing towards the couch and jumping over the edge, fixing her hair rather quickly.
No one walked in. After all that struggle to maintain the sacredness of Harry's guitar, no one was there to stop her or question her about her huffing and puffing. "Um, hello?" Her voice was high pitched and sort of quiet, her head leaning out past the arm cushion and into the hallway. "Hello? Is anyone here? It's just me, Ginny!" Hmph. She was sure she heard someone! Maybe all the clapping was ruining her hearing...

Harry hadn't planned on returning so early back to the common rooms that day, but since Ron and Herman had gotten, get this, detention, he had decided on just screwing the rest of his not as important followers (lol), and head back and hang in the common rooms. As he entered through the picture of the fat lady (or was it a man?), Harry went back to puzzling over how Ron and brown-noser Hermione had gotten detention! He could understand how Ron might, his temper could get the better of him at times, but Herman? Maybe Ron had something to do with it, they had been fighting over the past couple of days over something stupid. It seemed in Ron's department to get back at her for hitting where it hurts, and in Herman's case, that was breaking school rules. Though it seemed to have back-fired on Ron, because he really looked surprised when he got pulled in Filch's office too. Poor guys. Filch sucks!
And the worst thing about all of this was, Who was going to finish his Potions essay?! It was due tomorrow! Hermione was the only one who could get him a grade higher than a B. Poo. Before entering into the main room, Harry stopped abruptly, hearing the faint sound of a guitar being played. Hold on, was there another guitar playing Gryffindor up in this house? That reminded him! He was planning on practicing with his own instrument when he got here! Now where did he put that piece of awesome sounding sexyness...?
Before Harry could make a move to leave, a plubby-faced first year made his way out of the secret Gag and Prank shop door that Fred and George ran secretly. The boy's expression turned from star-struck horror to amazement as he got his first look in Harry's direction. "Woah! Your Your-" The boy stuttered out, before Harry rose his hand to stop him, "Yup. The one and only Harry Freakin' Potter." He replied smoothly, grinning slightly at yet another one of his adorning fans, though he had to admit, it got a tad annoying. I mean, he was just an extremely hot twelve year old boy with a lightning scar on his forehead...oh and the whole 'kicked-the-dark-lord's-ass-as-a-baby' thing, boy who lived. But really, everyone could breath normally when they were around him, sheesh, kids these days...
As the moment stretched on and the boy just stood there with his mouth gaping, Harry started to feel awkward. "Uh...hello?" Harry began, clearing his throat while waving a hand infront of the boy's face. "Hm." Harry looked skeptical as he gave a short nod and then a shrug as the kid seemed frozen in time. oh well, might as well leave him. With that, Harry just strolled on by, knowing it would be best if he didn't do anymore to the first year. At least he wasn't trying to get his number like that last one...that was just too much of a 'woah man!' situation. Nuh uh, Harry James Potter did not roll like that. Like the magic scarf said, 'heterosexual' baby!
Harry heard a voice upon entering the room, and recognized the voice before the person mentioned a name. It was Ginny Weasley! What was she doing in the common room so early? He noticed her bright red hair sticking out from behind the couch arm-rest cushion. She seemed a bit flustered, like Ron got when he attempted doing twenty push-ups in Wizard Gym Class (at least he got to nine once!). "Oh, Hey Ginny!" Harry replied in a bright voice, finding it rather nice to see Ron's little sister. She might be annoying sometimes, but that didn't mean she was a bad person to hang out with. "What's up? And why do you look so flustered all of a sudden?" Well, more flustered than usual that is. It was weird, but every time he entered a room she seemed to get that 'holy crap! how's my hair look?' kinda impression, y'know? Ah well, maybe there's a bug going around, but she does seem more flushed than usual.
Before she could answer, Harry noticed his familiar smooth-wooden guitar leaning up against the side of the mantle-place. "There's my guitar!" He exclaimed, grinning as he passed by the red-head girl to grab it by the neck. Turning back to Ginny again, Harry waited for her answer.

Ginny's heart nearly skipped a beat when Harry Potter, the boy who lived, walked in. Man, he would've gone insane if he had seen her playing his guitar! Especially because she wasn't that good! Ginny would never want to do anything to make Harry upset, after all, he's the coolest person at Hogwarts. Oh god, she probably looked so stupid right now. Quickly, she flashed him a smile, her hands running over her red hair. Stupid Ginny! If she hadn't touched Harry's guitar in the first place, she wouldn't have had to rush to put it back before he caught her. But because she's just too curious, she did, and now she looked like a mess. And in front of Harry Potter! How was he supposed to like her back when she looked like a mess? Now they'd never be together forever...
"Oh, hey Harry Potter!" Her voice was a bit breathy, but she managed to recover. With a hand running through her hair in an attempt to tame the wild mess, she leaned back on the couch, trying to get comfortable. "Oh, you know, just hanging around. I haven't really made any friends yet, so I spend most of my time here anways." Clearly her attempts at making herself presentable failed, because he questioned her on her flushed appearance. It just made the red-haired girl blush a pink color, turning away so he couldn't see. "Nothing! It's nothing! I was just, um, doing some exercise. Yeah. Heh." If there was anytime it would be acceptable for Ron to come in and clap in her face, it would be right. She sounded so dumb. Exercise? Stupid Ginny! She mentally gave herself a clap, putting one hand up to her ear. She could actually hear it in her head, that was a bad sign right?
Her heart fluttered as he picked up the guitar. Maybe he could play her a song! Oh, wouldn't that be amazing. Harry Potter, playing a song for her! She giggled as he picked it up, resting her hands on her lap. "How was your day, Harry? Have you seen Ron at all? I tried to talk to him during lunch but he sort of ignored me and walked away. I needed to talk to him about a letter I got from mom this morning..." She cut herself off before she started to ramble. Scooting over, she made sure there was enough room on the couch for both of them. If he wanted to sit next to her that was. He could always choose on of the chairs. Or he could sit on the floor! Or on the mantle near the fire place! He didn't have to sit next to her, there was no rule that said that right? Her head started to hurt because it was screaming so loudly at her.
Why couldn't she just act normally around him? Why did his name giver her butterflies? Why did the sound of his voice make her stomach to flips? Why did he have to play the guitar so perfectly? More importantly, why did he had to be her big brother's best friend. It was already hard enough with the one year age difference, plus the gorgeous Cho Chang strutting around everywhere. It was like everything was against Ginny being with Harry, like it just wasn't meant to be. But Ginny knew that someday, no matter what, they'd be together forever. Because she really liked him, and she could and would make this work.

Youre tall and fun and pretty Youre really, really skinny ...uh, Ginny Im the Mickey to your Minnie Youre the Tigger to my Winnie Ginny Wanna take you to the city Gonna take you out to dinney Ginny - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Harry had to wonder sometimes why Ginny chose to use his full name instead of just 'Harry' or heck, even 'HP' would be cool too. Shrugging mentally, Harry just chose not to comment, he really hadn't minded that much, it was just sort of odd, seeing as no one else called him by his full name, unless you counted Dumbledore or some person who hated him. He listened to Ginny quickly explain her flusterdness, and had to pull a puzzled expression. Exercise? In the common room? Seemed like a strange place to do such a thing....but then again, this was Ginny he was talking about here.
"My day? Ohh, it was pretty bland to tell the truth." Harry started, with a slight shrug. His day had been rather un-eventful really, being Harry Potter you'd think it would be full of adventure and mystery right? Well, this ain't the movies kids. His gaze shifted to his guitar briefly before looking back at the red-head, "Ron's in detention with Hermione right now- long story there, heh." Harry went on with a short chuckle, but not doing it in a way that he was glad Ron had gotten detention. What could be worse than spending a whole hour with Snape in the dungeons? He really wished Ron would think before he did things to get him into those predicaments.
Harry gladly took the seat next to Ginny when she moved over, having had a long day, so a nice seat on the soft couch beat a wooden chair's butt anyday. He wondered what the letter Ginny was speaking of from her mum was about. Nothing bad hopefully, bad news always sucked. But Ginny didn't seem distressed about the subject, so he found it safe to ask about it. "What kind of letter?" He asked offhandedly, while adjusting the smooth-wooden guitar under his arm, looking as if he were about to play a song. Harry really hadn't had any good ideas lately for new songs, and he was hoping for some inspiration soon.
